Manual ratchet tensioners rely on mechanical leverage and hand power to tension the strap, requiring separate tools for sealing (crimping) and cutting. They are highly durable, portable, and require no batteries. Battery-powered tools, like the DD163U, automate the tensioning, friction welding (sealing), and cutting processes into a single-button operation, providing much faster output and highly consistent tension force.
For heavy, non-compressible materials with sharp edges (like steel beams or cut stone), high-tensile steel strapping or heavy-duty PET (Polyester) strapping is recommended. Steel strapping offers minimal elongation, while PET provides excellent shock-absorption and elasticity, keeping the bundle secure even if the load shifts slightly.
